Also known as Salty Grape and Nitre Bush.  We found lots of these bushes on the trip across the Nullarbour Plain.

Small shrub growing throughout Australia.

Fruit matures in Summer and Autumn. Use the fruits to make jam or use them dehydrated or fresh in baking, fruit salads and other deserts.

  • Prefers a light to medium well-drained soil in a sunny position. TOLERANT to saline and coast conditions and is drought and frost tolerant.
  • Small Shrub growing throughout australia
  • SOAK the cracked fruit seeds overnight in warm water for 24.48 hours.
  • Sow seed 2-3mm deep avoiding the hottest and coldest months and try not to disturb the seed when watering.
  • Place in a warm shaded or semi shaded position to avoid dying out.
  • Keep moist and warm but not too wet as the seed may rot.
  • Germination can occur in 28 days to several months depending on the temperature and conditions.
